The sustainable museum

The Museum receives another award for its contribution to the environment and to energy saving

 

In 2015 the Museum took part in the programme Towards a Low Carbon Policy in Bilbao, promoted by Bilbao Ekintza, with the aim of measuring the environmental impact which our activities generate. We thus measured our carbon footprint, identified our principal sources of greenhouse gases emission and formulated measures to reduce them. During this procedure we also checked and revised the measures that we have been taking in our quest for greater energy saving.

The Museum's contribution was acknowledged at an event held on 14 March at the city's Town Hall in the presence of the mayor, Juan María Aburto, when prizes were awarded to the companies and other institutions committed to this initiative.

The Museum will continue to focus on this commitment to the environment, which we began in 2014 by improving our energy systems, replacing our old oil burning burners with natural gas and halogen bulbs with LED technology.
