Partnership agreement between the museum and the Choral Society of Bilbao
The Bilbao Fine Arts Museum and the Choral Society of Bilbao sign a partnership agreement for closer cultural cooperation between the two institutions
The Bilbao Fine Arts Museum and the Choral Society of Bilbao are two of the city's cultural icons which are both over one century old. The Choral Society was founded in the late 19th century (1886) with the goal of promoting knowledge and dissemination of music, with a particular focus on choral music. Likewise, the museum was founded in the first decade of the 20th century (1908) with the goals of assembling, conserving, studying and disseminating its collection of ancient, modern and contemporary art; ensuring the enrichment of the collection; maintaining services; and promoting high-quality activities in order to actively contribute to the education of society and the projection of the cultural values of the Basque Country.
With the title 'Artearen ahotsak. Bilboko Korala Arte Ederren Museoan / The Voices of Art. The Choral Society of Bilbao at the Fine Arts Museum', thanks to this agreement a programme will be implemented of two performances per year at the museum featuring any of the three choirs in the Choral Societychildren's, youth or adult. Furthermore, the Choral Society will hold an educational workshop which will be part of the museum's education programme.
Finally, the members of the Choral Society and the Friends of the Museum may enjoy several corporate perks: Friends of the Museum will enjoy the same discount as Choral Society members when purchasing tickets to attend their concerts, as well as registering for the children's Music Camp held in the summer, while the members of the Choral Society can enjoy the discounted fee to visit the museum.
The signing of a partnership agreement now, for the first time, reinforces both institutions' commitment to their educational missions, while also creating a special framework to disseminate music within the artistic context of the museum.
