The Spanish Still Life
From Zurbarán to Picasso
BBK Room
The exhibition covered the development of the still life in Spanish painting from the Golden Age to contemporary times. Seventy-six works were loaned from a series of major national and foreign museums and private collections. The exhibition reconstructed the Spanish taste for the genre through the works of some of its finest exponents: Sánchez Cotán, Loarte, Van der Hamen, Zurbarán, Velázquez, Pereda, Arellano, Meléndez, Goya, Picasso, Gris, Miró and Dalí.
