Jacques Lipchitz
Drawings and Sculptures
1st Floor / B Room
Jacques Lipchitz (Lithuania, 1891-1973) was one of the greatest revolutionaries of modern sculpture, attached to the postulates of cubism. Picasso, Gris and Henri Laurens were among Lipchitz´s friends; he created a schematic and geometric sculpture with representative references and the influence of primitive sculpture. The exhibition will show a hundred drawings together with a broad selection of sculptures. The drawings are preparatory sketches for later sculptures, but also works in which the sculptor catalysed the ideas, shapes and themes previously expressed in three dimensions.
