Eduardo Arroyo (Madrid, 1937) is one of the most important Spanish artists of the second half of the 20th century. This exhibition presents a group of the artist's paintings created during the last two years, some of them of large format. In addition, these works are accompanied by various representative examples of Arroyo's output as a sculptor. Paintings on display include Le retour des croisades (2017) inspired by The Victim of the Bullfight (1910), a monumental canvas by Ignacio Zuloaga (Eibar, 1870 – Madrid, 1945) on deposit at the museum from the Hispanic Society of America. Most of the works by Arroyo are presented here for the first time in Spain following their inclusion in the extensive retrospective on the artist recently held at the Fondation Maeght in Saint-Paul-de-Vence (France).
