Founding Trustees

Trustee of Honour

Starting in 2001, BBK has maintained the largest sponsorship programme at the Museum of any private organization. The Foundation’s cooperation facilitates a major programme of temporary exhibitions and a range of complementary activities, including didactic itineraries, the BBK-Museum research grant programme, and seasons of talks and lectures jointly organized with the Friends of the Prado Museum Foundation.

Strategic Trustee

The collaboration between Fundación BBVA and the museum began in 2002. Fundación BBVA’s commitment to the museum, of which it is a member of its Board of Trustees, reflects its strategy of supporting culture with the aim of contributing to the creation and promotion of the art of our own time. The collaborative agreement between the two institutions was renewed in 2017 with the shared objective of launching a new Video Art and Digital Creation Programme.

Trustees

Since 2011 and following ten years of sponsoring the Museum’s film cycles, METRO BILBAO has sponsored the Boletín, the Museum’s important scholarly publication.

Since 2004 Fundación Banco Santander has been sponsoring the Invited Work programme, a pioneering initiative at the time it was launched which aims to emphasise the unique values of every work of art while offering visitors a more profound analysis than that habitually found in exhibitions. In May 2017 Fundación Banco Santander strengthened its commitment to the museum by joining its Board of Trustees.

Since 2014 the Fundación and the museum have been working together with the shared aim of promoting training and of introducing young people into the world of work through the Gondra-Barandiarán-Museum Grants. Having joined the museum’s Board of Trustees in 2017, the Fundación continues to fund the grant programme and is now also supporting the first edition of a Summer Course that will analyse the current state of museography.
