“Eyes Wide Shut” 

Goya’s extraordinary ability to reveal the soul makes him one of the top portraitists in art history. He concentrates his sitters’ psyche in subtle details and gestures, especially in their eyes, which he rouses with the black they need and brightens with a precise dab of light. In contrast, Talayero discovers her artist’s soul in large-scale papier collé, where she wields her particular cryptography to draw a bevy of eyes which resonate on an old wall like an enigmatic metonymy.
