BBK Fundazioa renews its collaborative agreement with the Museum
Iñaki Azkuna, president of the Fundación Museo de Bellas Artes de Bilbao, and Mario Fernández, president of BBK Fundazioa, today signed the Collaborative Agreement that ensures the continuity of the BBK/Museum programme. This is the Museums most important sponsorship programme supported by a private company.
LThis collaborative agreement, which amounts to a financial contribution of 2.45 million Euros over three years, will allow for the organisation of an important programme of temporary exhibitions. As a result, in 2012 the BBK Gallery in the Museum will be presenting exhibitions on Guinea, Goya and Botero, while in 2013 there will be retrospectives devoted to Basterretxea, Durrio and Regoyos. In addition, the agreement covers the numerous activities habitually associated with temporary exhibitions.
A long-lasting collaboration
BBK Fundazioa, Patron of Honour of the Fundación Museo de Bellas Artes de Bilbao, has been collaborating with the Museum since the 1970s while since 1994 the Museums temporary exhibition gallery has been known as the BBK Gallery. In 2011 BBK Fundazioa supported numerous exhibitions and activities in which more than 223,000 visitors took part. The most important was the exhibition devoted to Antonio López, which saw almost 210,000 visitors. Under the agreement signed today, the BBK Gallery will hold at least two temporary exhibitions every year, lasting a minimum of two months. This agreement also envisages explanatory tours of the collection and of the exhibitions aimed at school children, adults, families and young people. BBK Fundazioa and the Museum have also agreed to continue with the BBK-Museum Research Grants, with the lecture series in collaboration with the Fundación Amigos del Museo del Prado, and with activities specifically aimed at BBK clients. Finally, the Museums collection will be made available to BBK for the organisation of temporary exhibitions in venues outside the Museum.
