The online collection and picture sale

Marta Cárdenas's career has been based on two interests. In the 1980s landscape was the only thing that interested her. For her, landscape is always en plein air, sensorial, highly synthesized and with few details; the void and the light construct space and take centre (and side) stage to the detriment of everything else. This tendency is appreciable in Landscape, painted in rapid, markedly gestural strokes, which catch the fleeting effects of natural light on the water, the transparency and changing rhythm of which captures the spectator's attention. The inclination towards abstraction affects the composition and plays out the artist's own motto: "maximum economy in drawing, maximum richness in colour." [Arantxa Pereda]
