Enrique Barros. (right side of the base)
Second quarter of the 20th century
Donated by Alberto Barros Moreno in 2003
With the legacy of Rodin's values, undoubtedly strengthened by his time with Bourdelle, Barros's Boxer is distinguished by anatomical values and the credible definition of a particular sporting pose. The composition is impregnated with a spatial sense that nevertheless explores the allegorical: an idealized model in bronze exercising and influenced by the "return to order" of 1930s Italian sculpture.
