Bilbao Fine Arts Museum and the Museum of Contemporary Art of the Basque Country-Artium Museoa, with the collaboration of the Department of Employment, Social Cohesion and Equallity of Diputación Foral de Bizkaia, organize the fifteenth edition of the course The feminist gaze: feminist perspectives in artistic productions and theories of art. Directed by Xabier Arakistain, art curator, and Lourdes Méndez, Professor of Social Anthropology, this course brings together speakers from different countries, disciplines and generations to analyse or intervene in the field of art from feminist perspectives. Aiming to denounce and fight against the discrimination, oppression and exploitation of women, these perspectives maintain that the category of sex structures the social, the gaze, language, art, its field and its institutions by combining aesthetic and political dimensions. By analysing the field of art and its agents without forgetting the social relations of sex, ethnicity and class in force in the societies in which it is located, these perspectives reveal the persistence of a structural inequality in it and account for its main effects.

Información sobre las Becas
La Fundación Gondra Barandiarán concederá 20 becas (incluyendo las personas asociadas al programa de becas del museo) para jóvenes profesionales menores de 35 años que posean una titulación superior relacionada con los contenidos del curso. La selección de las candidaturas se realizará analizando el perfil formativo, el expediente académico y el interés por el curso.
La obtención de la beca supone la exención de las tasas de matrícula y la participación obligatoria en el curso.
